For most of my life I have studied and sketched people, mainly using pencil and pastels but more recently oils.

I aim to convey a sense of the personality of the sitters in my paintings not just a likeness. I like to work quickly from life, reacting to the image in front of me – draughtsmanship being the key to the start of the painting and collaboration between artist and sitter being the key to achieving a successful outcome. 

In 2015 I became a full time student at The Heatherley School of Fine Art gaining a Diploma in Portraiture in 2017.
